##### WBENC, Personally Speaking

So what does it mean to be a women-owned business? As a female employee of Service Ideas, I can tell you it means quite a lot.

It means I feel just as empowered in my career as my fellow male coworkers do. It means I have confidence that I'm being treated fairly based on my abilities and not on my gender. And above all, it means I get to be inspired by a woman with leadership abilities I can strive towards.

WBENC, Technically Speaking

The [Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC](http://www.wbenc.org/)) is a certifier of women-owned business in the U.S. and an advocate for women in business.

With a mission to ["fuel economic growth globally by identifying, certifying, and facilitating the development of women-owned businesses,"](http://www.wbenc.org/about-wbenc/) the organization validates a business as women-owned by determining if it's at least 51 percent owned, controlled, operated and managed by a woman or women.

Service Ideas, a third generation family-owned business, is owned and operated by [Megan Murray Blohowiak](https://www.serviceideas.com/our-people), the granddaughter of founder Art Murray. The company has proudly accepted the women-owned certification from the WBENC year after year since 2013.
